What is IVF and how much is it costs? In Ukraine

In-vitro-fertilization (IVF) is one of the most common assisted reproduction technology used as fertility treatment. In the IVF procedure, an egg is retrieved from the mother’s or donor’s ovaries. Then in a specialized laboratory setup, obtained egg need to fertilize with sperm collected from a male partner or donor. After 3 to 5 days, the created embryo is transferred into the mother’s womb.
The basic IVF cost lies in the range of $10,000 to $15,000. However, this cost does not include medication charges. The requirement of medication varies from patient to patient.
Mini-IVF vs. Full IVF

Mini IVF is a little different from conventional IVF treatment. In mini-IVF, a lower dose of fertility drugs is used and requires less stringent monitoring of embryo development before transfer. The average cost of a mini-IVF is approximately $5,000. Mini-IVF is suitable for couples who are looking for IUI treatment.
Apart from cost, mini IVF is advantageous in terms of less possibility of multiple pregnancies by controlling several possible follicles or resulting embryo. In mini IVF, single embryo transfer is possible. This restriction cannot possible in IUI. However, the success rate of minim IVF is not yet clear. If any patient needs full IVF for them mini IVF may not be a correction option. A doctor can decide which process is more suitable for the patient depending upon the individual factor.
Additional cost for IVF options
IVF cost is increasing with basic charges depending upon the additional assisted reproductive technologies are require to get a successful result. For instance, ICSI treatment requires to add where single sperm is directly injected into the egg for fertilization. The requirement of pre-genetic testing of embryos also adds to the expense.
Freezing embryos and storing them for years require additional charges. This cost is also varies depending upon the period of storage. However, in a repeated IVF cycle, using of frozen embryo significantly reduce the IVF cost compared to fresh embryo implantation.
Requirement of recruiting gamete donor also increase the overall cost. For example, using egg donors significantly increases the IVF cost. However, sperm donors cost comparatively low than the egg donor.
Embryo donation is the most economic option among other donor services. It reduces the overall IVF cost also, as in this process embryo does need not create.
Using the gestational carrier or surrogate mother is the most expensive IVF treatment option. In this process, along with the IVF treatment charge, additional charges are required for legal fees, agency fees, and payment to the gestational carrier.
Following are some essential points that need to discuss with the clinic before starts the IVF process:
The charges require additional assisted reproductive technologies like ICSI, assisted hatching, PGT, testicular sperm extraction, etc.
Repetition of fertility testing and IVF expert consultation charges
Availability of cryopreservation service and yearly charges for a surplus embryo that can be used for the future cycle
Fertility drugs expense
Mock embryo transfer charges
Pregnancy testing charges
Ultrasound monitoring and blood tests charges
Another important factor for IVF cost budgeting is the distance between the intended parent’s home to the clinic. Increase distance includes traveling, hotel, work-off costs also.
